Has anyone had a transfusion?

My daughter had a baby by section and then had to have a transfusion as her iron count was extremely low, she now has an infection which she is taking anti biotics for. Has anyone had to have this? If so could they tell me how long recovery might take. She is asking me normal questions but as I never had a section I can't answer any about that.
