Why is it so easy for a man to lift another person?

Even the average guy? I know men are genetically stronger than women, generally, but it boggles me sometimes. I had a boyfriend who could pick me up with one arm! And I weigh 125 lbs! I can't even lift 50 lbs with two arms!
