I'm 5'5 and 140lbs as well and I want to lose 20 lbs as well. I've been running a mile every single morning for the past month and have been doing squats, crunches and lunges and i've lost about 10 lbs in the last month. You can't spot target your fat, you have to lose overall fat. running helps you lose over all body fat and it's good for you, it helps you lose cellulite and helps get the blood pumping through your veins. Squats and lunges will help tone your thighs as well as running and crunches will help strengthen your abs.
