Any computer techies have answers?

Ok, so I am having difficulties with my internet connection. I was without internet access for nearly a week because someone in my house didn't pay the bill. Once that was paid, I discovered my computer couldn't access the internet, even though the other PC and notebook were able to. When I called my ISP, he told me to do the run command CMD, then type ipconfig. There was nothing there. no IP addy or anything. He told me I had to contact Gateway because somehow, my LAN was deleted. I want to know if there is anything I could do because when I spoke to a Gateway tech, he just provided me with the driver for my Nvidia ethernet card (or that's what I'm uming it is.) It hasn't done anything. I really think there is an easy fix to this without having to pay someone an absurd amount to look at it. Does anyone have any answers? Thanks!!
